If your a John Wayne fan u just have to go there. The memorablia is so interesting and its just an all around neat place to c here in Winterset. It does cost to go in but its worth every penny. Its a very popular place here in our little town. U would be amazed if u knew how many people visit everyday.
The museum is extremely small, not enough stuff to warrant the outrageous admission price. Also could not tour birth house, they did not hire enough people to let visitors in to see the house. This site is very over rated. Such a shame to an actor who was so loved by so many.
My brother loved it as he is a big fan. It is a nice, newer facility but the exhibit is quite small and limited to one room plus a walk through of his birthplace home around the corner. If you are a big fan, come check it out.
I shouldn't really rate this place because I couldn't go inside - their website said they were open but when I got there it was closed. It looked really neat from the outside though! I would definitely call before you make the trek out there. About 20 minutes off the freeway. You can go to his childhood home, then go around the block to a museum.
Awesome place. But of course, look at the person. How could you go wrong. Excellent facility.
