Very peaceful and its very popular 4 all ages. Its also very well kept up.
Quiet, serene trails. Nice lazy river for tubing, from the ford to the bridge takes 2 to 3 hours, then only a 5 minute walk back to the car through the tunnel.
Fun year round! Beautiful park with lots of trails. The kids summer camps are great.
THIS is a BEAUTIFUL PARK, a MUST VISIT if you're IN Madison County SEEING the FAMOUS COVERED BRIDGES. Before you leave Winterset don't forget to make a trip back into town (or stop as you pass thru town) to check out Clarke's Tower as well ! It's a beautiful 2- story stone lookout tower, a great place to check out those leaves changing colors in the fall, or watch for wildlife once they're down. It's a popular photo spot, whether on the winding stairwell on the outside, thru the awesome stone window holes, or pics taken from either above or below the 2nd story roof. These are just a couple of the places you could put on a list of places to see while in our near Winterset.
Enjoyed the backbone trail but had a hard time finding the trail head from the river ford parking lot. Snails everywhere.
